It is also lost intentionally during tooth preparation to improve the\u00a0aesthetics\u00a0or the physical integrity of the intended restorative material.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/li>

    Root Canals <\/strong>\u2013 a sequence of treatment for the\u00a0infected\u00a0pulp\u00a0of a\u00a0tooth\u00a0which results in the elimination of infection and the protection of the decontaminated tooth from future\u00a0microbial\u00a0invasion. Root canals,\u00a0and their associated\u00a0pulp chamber, are the physical hollows within a tooth that are naturally inhabited by\u00a0nerve tissue,\u00a0blood vessels\u00a0and other\u00a0cellular\u00a0entities. Together, these items constitute the dental pulp. Endodontic therapy involves the\u00a0removal<\/em>\u00a0of these structures, the subsequent shaping, cleaning, and decontamination of the hollows with small files and irrigating solutions, and the\u00a0obturation<\/em>\u00a0(filling) of the decontaminated canals. Filling of the cleaned and decontaminated canals is done with an inert filling such as\u00a0gutta-percha\u00a0and typically a\u00a0eugenol-based cement. Epoxy\u00a0resin is employed to bind gutta-percha in some root canal procedures.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/li><\/ul>
